Check out this for our main group page: https://fab.cba.mit.edu/classes/863.24/CBA/machine/ Huge kudos to the group, it was impressive seeing so many experienced folks coordinate to build... a machine.
First thing I proposed was to elect a leader. I voted for Cyrus for dictator, but he rejected. Churchill would be proud of this rejection of Dukedom.
Jessica quickly seized the lead. We had a leader!
After the initial meetings, having little machining experience, I ended up signing up to interfacing with the machine and making UI/UX work. Not that I had much experience there either, but it was going to be a lot of fun!
We had to choose between HTML and PYQT5. With Francisco, we tried PYQT5 first (via a drag-and-drop editor). It was ugly, but it kind-of worked.
Then, Dictator Jessica came in, and told us to use HTML. We obeyed. (All Hail Almighty Jessica)
(Briefly in awe of the 5-axis monster. Thanks for the demo, Francisco, Marcello, and 佳明!)
The demonstration showcased the potential of the machine, sparking new ideas for what we could achieve with its capabilities.
Our first challenge was making the camera feed work. We tried, and failed, and tried, and failed.
Each attempt brought us closer to understanding the system, teaching us the importance of persistence and teamwork.
And then, Almighty Jessica (and Michelle) just solved the framework and feed. Some tuning later:
The breakthrough moment energized the team, solidifying the foundation for the interface.
So, now that the framework works: Here come the MEMES.
Who was a better decisionmaker than Harvey Dent?
I was also playing with some logos. We explored some branding options, vibes, and logos such as:
Kudos to DALL-E.
We ended up skipping those logos in favor of more... memes.
And GIFs.
An epic photoshoot of the final machine.
And, a semi-final demo:
It's even better in-person -- come try it out.
