Week 14 -- Wildcard

Same as last week, this got swallowed by conference travels. Sorry, wildcard week! It seemed like you'd be a lot of fun with more time at hand.

So the simple hello-world wildcard I did for this week: Engravings!

Thanks to Jiaming for the training.

Finding the good settings to have a nicely visible engraving:

I wanted to have a cute little logo for my final project. So I first tried to engrave Kobe shooting a shot:

But this was a way too complex and detailed image. I'd need ideally a... a pencil-sketch of it. Who could do that for me?

Midjourney, of course. Within a few prompts, I had a nice pencil-sketch to use:

I initially tried to engrave on copper, but couldn't quite make it pretty and visible enough. So after a few iterations on DPI, laser strength, and laser lingering time, an aluminium-engraving worked out quite nicely:

So far, this is lacking the design component of the assignment. If time allows, I'll iterate the process. Until then, hello world!
