This week I began working towards the goal of designing a tensile lighting system with lamps that move controllably for functional or performative purposes. I initially started modeling in Fusion 360, a software that I have used in the past, but it’s been a while since I last touched. I used this design exploration as an opportunity to refamiliarize myself with the tool.
After working for a little in Fusion though, I realized how much slower I was designing than I normally am capable of in Rhino. So for the remainder of the first design pass for my system, I worked in Rhino which allowed me more freedom to play with different designs in a fast, iterative approach.
I then imported the modeled system into Keyshot to apply materials and render a few stills of the lamps at different locations to indicate their dynamic abilities.
