Who I Am
Hi, I’m Liam Kronman, a senior undergraduate at MIT studying Computer Science (Course 6-3). Originally on the path of pure math (Course 18), I recently shifted my focus toward software and hardware engineering. My passion for building, tinkering, and creating started as a kid when I dreamed of being a superhero. This dream translated into countless experiments with gadgets, non-Newtonian fluids, and makeshift armor.
Today, I’m fascinated by the intersection of software, hardware, and creativity. I love combining technology with art, from building glove-based DJ controllers to developing dating apps. At MIT, I’ve had the chance to dive deep into software engineering, but I’ve always longed to further my hardware skills – and that’s why I joined HTMAA!
Professional Experience
I’ve been fortunate to gain hands-on experience at some of the world’s leading tech companies and labs:
- Apple: I interned with the iOS & iPadOS System Experience team, where I contributed to interactive user experiences, app transitions, and multitasking features.
- Microsoft: Developed an AI bug detection tool for networking software.
- MIT CSAIL: Worked on cutting-edge research for reconfigurable photonic-electronic computing systems, and I co-authored an ACM SIGCOMM paper based on my findings.
My Projects
Throughout my journey, I've worked on some exciting projects:
- Dynamix: A glove-based DJ controller built using a Cypress PSoC and various sensors + an autonomous DJ with emotion-based song transitions.
- MITqute: A quantum matchmaking dating app that won 2nd place at MIT iQuHACK 2024.
- ExExEx: A dating site matching users with their exes' exes' exes, which gained traction through a viral marketing stunt at Harvard.
Why HTMAA?
I joined HTMAA to gain hands-on experience with physical fabrication – to finally build those superhero-inspired gadgets I've dreamed of since I was a kid. My software background has been my superpower, but now I want to expand my capabilities to create tangible, interactive devices.
