Welcome to Week 2

Vinyl Cutter: MIT Meche water bottle sticker
I had a relatively easy time with the sticker making. Using the mods site it was pretty streamline. I uploaded the image I selected and then adjusted the sizing to fit what I wanted.

I was able to cut and transfer pretty easily. It was fun to use the squeegie to press the vinyl onto the transfer paper and then onto my water bottle.

Laser Cutter: Parametric flower bouquet design kit
I utilzed AutoDesk Fusion 360 to design each of the parts. My design idea was to create a kit where you could customize your own personlized bouquet of flowers. With differing petal designs and center sizes it could be rearranged in a veriety of ways. The CAD design utilized parameters in my design for the thickness of the opening for each joint. This way I could finish my design and easily update the file based ont he thickness of the material and kerf (which my group calculated). After successfully finding the right power and speed for the lazer, I cut the parts, assembled the flowers, and added them to the rest of my lego flower bouquet.
Issues I encountered: I had a lot of trouble with my file conversions. The lazer cutting software was not a fan of my use of splines in the AutoDesk CAD file. After a lot of trial and error with Sam, we were able to open the DXF in SolidWorks and reexport from there.
