week 11:mechanical, machine design

Ouija Board

This week was one of the most interesting weeks in the class to far. I was part of the fabrication team, design team and candle team. For full documentation, please refer to our site designated to the Ouja Board Click here

10.1

design team

As part of the design team I was part of the team that designed the ouija board. This process required a lot of coordination with the design board team the fabrication team the candles team and of course with the gantry team. We used Rhino 8 and below are some images of my design process

fabrication team

As part of the fabrication team I was responsible - after Jeoffrey's guidance - for preparing all the wooden parts for our table from huge logs that were available for free at the N-51 shop

candle team

As part of the candle team I was responsible for designing and making the mechanism that will make the candles fall and make our table creepier.

10.19
I measured the available space that I had for the candle mechanism so that the mechanism would fit properly and be hidden in the table's thickness

available space in the table thickness
10.21
I also prepared the files for cnc that would precisely cut the parts
10.21
3d model of the candle mechanism
10.21
10.21
here I also added the top part of the candle mechanism
10.21
I 3d printed some parts and tried them out to see if they work
10.21
I also attached the servo
10.21
I could manually control the movement of the top moving part cause of a hinge that I designed and I wanted to test it if the servo would work
10.30
failed prints
10.31
10.32
all five mechanisms were assembled
the servo would make the top part move and as a result the candle on top of that would fall
10.35
10.37
Qilmeg designed anf 3d printed the candles
10.38
Romeo worked on the Stepdance code and eventually our candle mechanism worked sucessfully
