Vinyl Cutting_Instructions

Designed a MONOLITH logo in rhino, basically extending an italicized font for further abstraction. I played with the format so that the text letters would look like a monolith.

Setup a .png raster image in bw (machine reads differences in change of color)
Error: Started with an outline, instead of a colored font

Machine: On Roland Camm-1servo cutter
1. Align left under the two wheels
2. Bring down handle
3. Assign paper or roll (up and down buttons)
4. Set Original button
5. Insert usb
6. Open - mods formula
7. If needed to establish connection to machine — available on architecture tutorial site to establish connection with the machine
8. Load image
9. Dpi - should be 300
10. Force - should be 50-80(g)
11. Calculate > send file to device

Parametric LaserCutting

On a technical level, I've lasercut plenty before therefore I will keep this short.

I wanted to design a rock formation, titled Build a Rock as a pun on Build-a-Bear. In the world of monoliths and desert, it also reminded me of the rock formations of cairns and how they're used as wayfinding devices. First image Second image Second image
