Introduction
This assignment is targeted at:
Try some basic CAD tools like SolidWorks (SW), Blender, Fusion, and Rhino. Because this is the first week without a determination on the class name list, there’s not a lot of real work, but just exploration. I have already installed SW, Blender, and Rhino 7 on my computer before the class (I mostly use SW), so I would like to try Fusion.
Background: Cavity-enhanced Fourier Transform Microwave Spectrometer
Our lab is doing microwave rotational spectroscopy for interstellar molecules. We are building the next-generation cavity-enhanced spectrometer, which is basically just a big vacuum chamber with a diffusion pump on it, and then inject the sample with carrier gas, undergo the supersonic expansion to vacuum, and then cool down to the vibrational ground state. Two huge confocal mirrors are set face-to-face to become a Fabry–Pérot cavity, which can collect a much weaker signal at a certain frequency. My task for this instrument is to build a CAD model in software and figure out the best setup for the sample injection system.
To begin with, I decided to build the geometry of that huge vacuum chamber first. The model of the diffusion pump comes from the company that sold it. Here is the temporary result:

The installation problem for fusion:
I don’t know why, but my Windows system computer was really stuck on the online login system of Fusion. I can successfully pass through the student identification and install the full software, but this software requires jumping to a browser to log in, where I didn’t get any refresh on any browser. I tried to reset the default browser, and it didn’t work. Finally, I found the solution by changing the Registry Go to the cmd (command line) and then type in “regedit” to get access to the Registry, then find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINENTFile Execution Options
Find the file: AdskIdentityManager.exe and delete it, then the browser jumping system would work normally.
