About
Week of 04/26
This week we went back to the kuka to try to get some come initial clay objects made. We programmed the
robot and were able to execute the code successfully, but the clay extruder failed to push material through
the auger system. Deconstructing the system we realized that the threaded rod had pushed through the
plunger. Moving forward we are making a few changes:

1.We are switching out to a more expensive polycarbonate tube. Not being able to see the clay chamber has
made diagnosing system failures more difficult than we initially thought. We are also sizing down the system
from 3' to 2' and cutting the rods to make for faster disassembly.

2. We are updating the plunger system by fabricating it out of aluminum instead of PETG. We are also pinning
the threaded rod instead of using set screws to make sure it stays fixed to drive the threaded rod down. We
suspect it is not tight enough.
