Our system is designed to replace a hand crank solder press.

This system was designed to vertically press inserts into the system. It is designed to replace a drill press stand and soldering iron in one.

• Create a drill press in the Z direction
• Be able to adjust in the X direction for either multiple presses or multiple parts
• Automatically (or trigger based) push next part in sequence for loading.
• Offload previous part(s).

I decided to create a treadmill (or track) based system. This design is based off normal treadmill operation where a motor drives the treadmill. However, the key differentiator is the fact we will be utilizing a stepper motor in lieu of a BLDC or Brushed DC motor. This will allow us to control the specific position of treadmill track and adjust it based on where we want the part to be placed in the Y direction (parallel and in line with the track movement).

This will also help us utilize a ramp to offload parts once complete.
