BLDC Modular Thing 5V - DO NOT USE

BLDC Modular Thing 5V

This is a Xiao RP2040 based FOC controller for small sensored BLDC motors. The board only needs one USB cable for power + data. You can easily mill this board with a 1/64 inch bit and all the parts are in the Fab Lab Inventory, except for the motor + magnetic angle sensor.

You need a triple half bridge to control a brushless motor. My hacky idea is to put three low voltage H-bridges from the Fab Lab Inventory on the board and just use half of each one. This board is based on Yuichi Tamyia's Xiao_RP2040 Dual H-Bridge board, which itself is a millable version of the modular-things stepper-hbridge.

Warning

This board doesn't work.

Update

The problem probably lies in the truth table in the Toshiba H451 datasheet: H451 truth table When both inputs are high, then both outputs are off. That means that this IC can't drive a BLDC, just like the one in this SimpleFOC forum post. Dang! It might be better to make a low-voltage triple half-bridge from discrete transistors instead. That would be educational, which is the main goal of this board.

I have a plan for a new 5V design, but I don't have time to make it just yet. Details are in this thread on the SimpleFOC Community site.
