Wild Card Week
So the topic I really wanted to do was Artificial Muscles, and I was waiting on it because we are told to only do one. I had planned on sewing one of my projects for another class with the thread. I had talked between others trying to take it, emailed, and sent an issue about it because I had never heard anything about it and in the end I had to quickly do something else. That something was using the embroidery machine.
With the help from Leo I was set up with the Brother PE900 embroidery machine at the REEF. We did a test using the B design to show how it worked. The process was rather simple, put a cutaway stabilizer under the fabric of choice, hooping the fabric with its fastener, then loading it into the machine.
Then for myself I used fabric that I have been working with and dyed myself and a design of a leaf that was given as a design(I plan to do one of my own designs but I did not have time to because I wasn't planning to do embroidery) I rotated and placed it where I liked it the most.
I changed the thread out to green instead of black and followed the instructions given on the machine in order to thread it. After that I just let it do its job. Once it was finished I took it off of the machine.
For making a design, there is a app in the app store called Brother Artspira for designing your own design. Which is crazy because to do any nonbasic designs you have to pay a subscription, after already buying a more than $1,000 dollar product.
So I made a simple design that I will be doing embroidering soon.
This process is not covered in another assignment and I do need to still print out the design I made with the digital processing.
