a programmable material

that reacts to:

- light and/or,
- temperature

I hope I can use it as a window blind (or develop a building component).

Examples of behavior:

- (exterior weather and lighting condition) when the sun hits the material, the outside layer will open to block light so the interior temperature can be controlled.
- when its cold and there is light outside the material will close so the light can heat up the room.

I will need:

- CNC to cut the components of the skin (metal or any expandable and thin material) (or a composite material?),
- temperature and light sensors,
- controllers to tell the surface when to shrink or expand.
