Cardboard, laser
This weeks assignment was to make something using press-fit construction. So I
made a cardboard briefcase.
I originally wanted to make the briefcase one piece, though when
laid out, it did not fit in the laser-cutter's bed. This resulted in it
being a three part design. The laser does not perform a full vector cut on
the base joint (in red), allowing me to remove the excess cardboard that would otherwise
build up on the joint. This results in a cleaner seam.
When holding it by the handle, the weight secures the joints and adds strength and support.
The Press-fit Briefcase fits my 13" Macbook Pro Retina perfectly.
