Week 4: 3D scanning and printing

3D printing was used extensively in my final project. Many of the components in my project (buttons, lego plates) were 3D printed.

After spending many hours repairing our Ultimaker 2 in the LLK space and getting failed prints on the Ultimaker 2+ machines in the CBA shop. I decided to use my own personal Printrbot Simple Metal. It prints 1.75mm filament with a possible resolution of 100 microns. I have been using the printer for over 2 years without any major issues. At one point during the semester, my printer ran for almost 72 hours straight printed components for my final project.
