Tracking Page for Pinball Machine

How the idea developed

This page dictates how my experience creating this pinball machine went. However, for information in regards to how I made (ie. all the good documentation) please go to the How To Make It Again page.

Update 10/3/2018

I have actually decided to change my final project idea to create a pinball machine. I think I have realized that the best way for me to learn these fabrication skills is to remove myself from my normal ideal of designing for social change. I am doing this because I think I won't be able to effectively balance both tasks with such a steep learning curve. However, designing for personal project gives me more room to fail, iterate and test. As such, I have chosen the pinball machine which I am able to build aspects of, over the next couple of weeks.

Check out Week 6 to see the pinball cabinet being built. Week 8 will feature me casting the game part from solenoid like pieces to corners for the ball to bounce off of.

Update 10/20/2018

This week I order parts for my pinball machine's playfield: 5 Kicker Switch
2 Pop Bumper
1 Ball Shooter
3 Buttons
I am also currently working on creating a simulation for my pinball machine with Visual Pinball

Including Weekly Updates towards Pinball Machine from the homework

A lot of my project I have been working on, on a weekly basis. For references to what week's contain project material, you can find the below:

Playfield Change

At the beginning of this project, I was expecting to build my scoreboard, flippers and have a small playfiled consisteting of 2 pop bumpers and 5 kicker switches. However, many of my parts were not delivered to me. I am currently missing 3 out of 5 of my kicker switches and all of my pop bumpers. In addition, the assembly from the pieces that I order to connect t a solenoid to work as a playfield isn't possible with the amount of time left. As such, I am moving to creating ramps and tunnels with capacitive sensor, light sensors and/or proximity sensor instead. This element of the playfield will still be a reach goal as my first priority is creating my scoreboard and flippers.
