How to Make almostAnything

Assignment:

Make an I0 circuit that communicates wirelessly: acoustic, mechanical,  RF, IR, inductively, capacitively etc.

Project:

  • Wirelessly connect two I06 boards through an inductive coil.

    • Fortunately this is a step in my final project

Tasks:

1. I milled two I06 boards and tow I07 boards using the modella mill.

2. Stuffed boards according to Prof. Gershenfeld's design and programmed both with his code as well.  My intent was to make sure the boards all functioned, communicated through a DC power-line and ran the code provided; then I would modify the board to accept the inductive circuitry.

One of the boards did not work, continuity checks all checked good.  I re-heated all the joints and that did not change anything.  I replaced the Mosfet (looked like a bit too much heat might have touched it) and then re-programmed the ATtiny 13 - one of these last two things worked, my guess is the Mosfet was cooked.

3. I06 boards talking over DC powerline:

 

Coils measuring 6uH each in series with a 1K ohm resistor - still in work

4.  My next step is to hook the coils up to the O-scope to determine threshold levels and find some help!. 

5.  Final Project Update:

  • Step0 - replicate N.G.'s I0 circuit and demo Internet 0 - DC transmission

    • Complete

  • Step1 - Create I0 circuit with Inductive Coupling transmission
