Computer Controlled Machining
Inspiration:
This sheep skin is currently being used as a rug, but it could return to being a 3D form.
Sketch | Prototype:
I used cardboard to make a armature for the sheepskin that matches its proportions
so no material needs to be cut and it can be sewn onto the “skeleton” armature.
Process | Toolpath Planning:
I learned to add drill holes, dog bones, and tabs to each piece for safe
cutting on the Shopbot.
Fabrication | Shopbot:
I learned to operate and cut OSB using the 24” x 18” Shopbot in the Harvard Physics Lab.
Project | Pieces:
The “skeleton” for the sheep with a press fit assembly.
Project | Sheep:
Armature for now, I will adding some padding around the skeleton, sew on the sheep skin,
and add some black fabric for the feet and head.
