About Michael D Wong

Introduction

I’m a senior undergraduate at MIT studying Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience with a focus on robotics. I’ve had hands-on experience with 3D printing and CAD, working on projects like building electric scooters and robotic arms. While I enjoy being scrappy, I’m looking forward to strengthening my technical foundation and learning more about the fabrication process. You can check out some of my past projects here: Michael's Projects.

Why This Course Excites Me

This course is exciting because it offers exactly the hands-on experience I need with CAD/CAM, 3D printing, and PCB fabrication. I’m particularly interested in learning how to design and integrate sensors, actuators, and wireless systems into real-world applications. I have a passion for creating smart systems, and my long-term goal is to manufacture drones for applications like delivery and disaster relief.

A Dream I Have

At heart, I’m also a builder. One of my dreams is to someday build a house from scratch for my mom, where she can grow vegetables and flowers with all the tools she needs. That’s why I’m so excited about this course—it gives me the chance to learn the tools and techniques that will help me turn that dream into a reality.

Future Goals

I’ve worked at the Fluid Interfaces Group in the Media Lab, and I eventually want to contribute to projects in brain-computer interfaces and human-computer interface wearables. I see these fabrication skills come to life, and I hope to use what I’ve learned to push the boundaries of human-computer interaction.
