Trained in the interdisciplinary fields of architecture, art, and anthropology, and professionally experienced in urban planning, disaster management, and policy-making, Yutian is driven by a strong impetus to create spaces that people can thrive in, amidst both emerging and unforeseen built-environment challenges.

These days she can be found at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology exploring how to better design and plan for extreme environments, as a Master in City Planning candidate and as a researcher with the Urban Risk Lab. When not thinking about doomsday scenarios, she enjoys spending time in nature and out on the water, and stumbling through new languages.
