Some Musings

Hello and welcome to this site that I call: Field of Failures. While this website / repository / page will be a monument for my attempts at coding, soldering, and understanding electronics, this site is devoted to the many experiments week to week. It's an attempt to enjoy the process and not stress.

My final project will be an interactive monolith modeled after 2001: A Space Odyssey. From steel, to bone, to revolving spaceship, I will attempt to create an earthly rendition of the dark steel Monolith form. It has appeared in much folklore and art since, most notably appearing in the desert landscape as a mysterious figure.

The iconography of the monolith fascinates me as so simple yet so extra-terrestrial, resembling stellae and tombs. Depending on my abilities in this course, I will build a tabletop size monolith, with a movement center. This will go to a central board so that whenever someone moves in a certain radius a light bulb starts glowing in the vicinity like a sunrise. Alternatively, the theme song of 2001 Space Odyssey will start playing.

Expected processes:
Movement Sensors
Motor for light/audio
PCB board
Metal work/cutting - Origami Assembly
Final pitch

On HTML

It gives me great pleasure to experiment in the world of HTML code. There is a website that I love that I take inspiration from called HTML Energy by Laurel Schwulst and Elliott Cost.
