I spent a lot of time thinking about final project ideas and am still not fully committed to one. Click here to see my final project progress! Some ideas include a bomb diffusal game, a robot that survives an apocalypse and goes looking for life, a pet rock (i found that this was previous htmaa project), a tamagotchi that makes you touch grass or put your phone down, something to do with a hedgehog, a laser tag set, and a drink making robot. I want a project that’ll help me learn new skills (mostly electrical / robotic stuff), make something that’s cool and silly, and something that I am excited to make for the sake of making.
Unfortunately, I have not currently come up with a project that I am happy with, but for the sake of the assignment I wanted to sketch and cad something. I’m not proud of this page right now and that makes me sad, because I want to produce work I am proud of. The idea I explored the most was a tamagotchi. A tamagotchi is a toy from the 90s where you take care of a virtual pet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamagotchi) I really like the aesthetic of the tamagotchi, think the concept is cute, and find it interesting how you can get people to do a task consistently just by telling them their keeping something that is fake alive.
I have acquired a notebook for this class where I sketch and write ideas and I’ve included below some small doodles. I used this project to learn how to use fusion360. I have previously used NX, OnShape, and AutoCAD so it was mostly me learning where all the controls are off a youtube video. I am planning to do a more in depth tutorial later for assemblies. Below is the CAD I made for one of my tamagotchi ideas. This version is similar to the original tamagotchi except I wanted the inputs to come from different sensors. I also want to put a lot of time into the aesthetic design of the object and for this first version I wanted to feel retro and also like a children's toy. While this won't be my final project, this was still a good exercise in creative thinling and helped me learn the controls of fusion.
