Week 02: Computer-Controlled Cutting
As part of group assignments to do this week, Shonit and Se Hwan and I got together to test the settings and kerf of the laser cutter.
1. Created test squares in Rhino to laser cut
2. Tested different speed and power settings
3. Attempted to cut with the 60W machine
4. Repeated 1.-3. and could not make a successful cut
5. Determined settings for 120W machine to cut
6. Measured the laser cut part to determine the kerf
1. Ran the test print directly from the vinyl cutter
2. Successfully weeded off the test print
3. Followed the online instructions to use the vinyl cutter
4. Made a successful cut
5. It's a cat!
------Individual Assignment: Waffle Dome-------
I designed a circular waffle and baked in grasshopper
I turned the waffle into a waffle dome and added a simply interlocking joinery system
The waffle dome is fully baked(burnt) and ready to lasercut!
Its cut clean and crisp!
