Casting And Molding

This week for how to make almost anything I had... Sponsor Week! I spend 100% of my time on my sponsor week demo, and didn't get into the shop until after we finished demoing on Tuesday evening.
I did manage get a pretty good start on a tutorial for casting metal babbitt in the CBA shop. Photographs courtesy of Hye Soo. Thanks!
Making Toolpaths in PartWorks 3D
I reused my dampened oscillation model from Make Something Big week. Instead of ~ 3 feet in diameter this time the mold is just under three inches.
Rough Cuttout Tool Path
See my rough tool path settings above. Finish cut tool path was the same except with Stepover = 9%.
Rough Cuttout Tool Path
I milled on the Big Shopbot because it was available. This Worked fine -- However, I think that it doesn't move quite as quickly as the desktop version. When I sent my toolpath to the ShopBot, I got an error message saying [VS parameter set too high. Using the maximum (12)]. My guess - VS stands for Vertical Speed. Accepting the alternate maximum worked just fine.
Casting the Mold
I'm casting my mold in Oommoo overnight on Tuesday -- I haven't yet been able to cast in the mold, but I hope to catch up over the weekend.
