Progress

Relevant progress:

  • Sketching and modeling of the final project was done in week 0.
  • Tinkered with IMU/accelerometer data for two of the electronics weeks to prototype some internal ball tracking (takeaway: hard; IMU drift kills the accuracy rapidly)
  • Casted a ball with rotating off-center mass for funny flight trajectories in week 6

Coming up:

  • Gear up the shop’s most powerful motors and see how they compare on a ping pong ball and something heavier
  • Look at motors online and buy a couple cheap ones for the project
  • CNC week: build a tripod
