My name is Emma Odom and I am a third year PhD student in Brain and Cognitive Sciences here at MIT. I study how neural connectivity gives rise to a physical representation of motor information in the brain and how it evolves over time.
Before MIT I studied neuroscience and chemistry at Boston University, where I completed my honors thesis on “The Changing Cellular Representation of a Contextual Fear Memory in Region CA1 of the Mouse Hippocampus.”
Outside of the lab, I have a lifelong love, maybe even addiction, for ballet. I have been dancing and choreographing with Harvard Ballet Company since spring 2020. In fall 2023 I performed the Nutcracker with Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre - my first time dancing proffesionally!
