Progress Log

May 20th / Final Project Planning

The final presentation with walk through a demo (either live or pre-recorded) of the ultrafast laser micromachining system in practice - toolpath planning > sending the toolpath to the UI > determining optimal parameters for machining material > finished microstructure.

The work will have two main focuses: the application development and characterization of the laser. Application development will have an overview of the networking and dataflow of the web app that I developed, along with a quick exploration of `asyncio` with multithreading in Python. Then the laser characterization will describe the list of experiments done to determine optimal parameters for machining with the Pharos. This will focus specifically on machining high aspect ratio features onto the surface of single crystal diamond, since this is a useful application comparison for the NMR diamond rotor project.
