after several issues with failing boards, I wanted to start this week simple to tested the workflow using the hello.temp example. Programming went fairly smoothly and I was able to do it through a variety of environments (Arduino, Atmel Studio & cmd line) but then I faced several issues with the python visualization.
First I had to install the driver for the fabisp. When it comes up in the device manager you have been successful! I ended up reinstalling python to version 2.7 and was still receiving errors due to a missing numpy. To find the port in Windows all you have to do is go to the device manager in settings and under ports the connected one will be identified: mine was COM3. After downloading SciPy - it seemed to have worked! To launch the python file from command line enter: python filename.py COM#. See the video here! Though the interface only allows measurements between 20 and 30 so if it exceeds, it returns back to the beginning! Time to understand and edit the python code!
Part 2 > motion sensor
(Fabduino, passive infrared sensor, LED)
For the final project, wanted to add a motion activated LED strip to the fabduino build. Because my fabduino was still not working at this time, i prototyped the circuit using a breadboard and arduino uno. IT WORKS! see a demo here! In attempt to start developing a custom circuit, I started prototyping on a breadboard a system that could do this passively without the arduino. I came across a few references that suggested it could be done without a microcontroller but so far many iterations and no success yet. More to come!
