with no prior electronics experience it probably wasnt the best week to travel. However a week in florence and venice left me with no regrets... I caught up by following these instructions and these video tutorials. I milled the trace board with a 1/64 bit at a depth of 1.1mm and the outline with a 1/32 bit. I practiced soldering and stuffing the board, however upon testing found some errors.
I'm not satisfied with the quality
of the board so am planning to remill with a higher offset and
repeat the process for a cleaner foundation. I also
started with the smallest components - in hindsight I would
start with the microcontrollor / microusb prongs.
in the later weeks having a functional
programmer became critical to avoid waiting in long queues for
the avr programmer in the shop. i decided to remake the boards
but this time i followed two of the other examples from the
pre designed examples that i preferred for their built in usb
connection. Using the shop's avrisp I started with Valentin's
and programmed it in the Arduino IDE and command line with
avrdude as per the tutorials. But with the advantage of an led
indicator, I set about making Zaerc's
fabtinystar board but since i had a finally had a functional
backup, i didn't get around to programming it yet...
