Week 14
Wildcard week
For wildcard week, I decided to further explore Jack's fibeRobo that I played with last semester.
The initial idea is to use hot water to actuate certain structures through the shriking of the fibeRobo.
Here is some drawing to show the concept.
The first design I made is a bunch of 3D printed sticks that forms the letter HOT.
After print it, the features are too fine for me to thread the wire through.
I also didn't like the design so I remade another version featuring MIT. I also added more locating feature for the letters to come together nicely.
After printing MIT design, I used a fishing wire to test out my idea:
After wire testing, I threaded the fibeRobo through the design, which was a tough process due to the thin hole of the 3D print design.
The demo in the water did not work as well as the wire demo because the FibeRobo shrinked very little, requiring me to shorten the string, which makes the effect less dramatic.
