Selecting a Design

For wildcard week I was really excited to learn to use the embroidery machine as I love embroidering by hand and thought it would be a really cool thing to learn. I first came in on the Thursday to chat with Alan and discuss how the system worked - I would be away in New York until Tuesday so I would have to do most of the process then.

The process started off with the selection of a pattern. I decided to go with one of the ones on the CDs as I really liked their funkiness and didn't feel there was a need to pay for a custom design made.

After some hevy deliberation I decided to go with the snowmen wearing scarves stacked on top of each other.

Embroidering Design

Unfortunatly, by the time I got back from New York, Alan go COVID so I was left to my own devices to figure out the machine. After having come in Tuesday and without being able to get in contact with Alan and being thouroughly confused by the mannual I called it a day and returned the next day hoping Alan would be available to call.

Thankfully, I was able to get a video tutorial from Alan and got to work.

Turns out that there are several potential things that could go wrong during the process. For instance there is a tiny spool of clear thread at the button of the machine that ran out of thread during one of my runs, and I had to figure out how to replace it.

Following the first white layer I tried multiple times to run the light blue layer to no avail. It kept getting extrmely tangled with the small spool of thread.
