Week 1

Version Control

Setting up Git was a somewhat confusing process for me. Having never used the terminal before, it took some time for me to be able to interpret what was happening. After experimenting for a while, and receiving some help, I seem to have everything up and running.

I decided to run my website on Bootcamp on the suggestion of Casey . At first I started from scratch to get a sense of how Bootcamp was organized and then decided to borrow some of the code from Gary’s website from the previous year. After some time with issues getting the different components to be organized the way I wanted (and some help from Gary), I got it to a place that seems to be working.

Laser Cutting

I decided to base my project off of a public sculpture by the Danish artist Per Kirkeby at the Louisiana Museum in Humlebaek, Denmark (right).

I worked with both vector and raster raster drawings to create an interlocking brick pattern and a repeated archway form.

Vinyl Cutting

I decided to use the opportunity of learning vinyl cutting to make labels for my document organizer for the different classes that I am taking.

Antimony

Experimented with Antimony, but I found it difficult to actually make any shapes that I wanted. It was interesting to see a visualization of how parametric CAD works.
