How to Make (Almost) Anything

Output Device

Heater

For my output device I wanted to make a device that will produce hot air to draw which I will be able to use for my final project. I couldn't find anything related to temperature in Neil's output examples so I started looking into Arduino examples. Finally I found this very helpful website :

  • Heater part 1
  • Heater part 2
  • How to create a heating device?

Apparently the flow of electricity seems to be somehow related to heat. "Resistors b> are electrical components designed to have a specific resistance. When attached to a battery, resistors will dissipate some of the energy they receive as heat."

After talking to Anthony I decide to use Neil's mosfet example for both my heater and my fan that would produce air.

Attempt for making my final project's board!

With Anthony's advice I combined the mosfet board and the thermistor board but I had to make a two layer board.

I milled the board at the EDS lab using the software that they use for a two-layer board
I programmed the fan to turn on and off

Unfortunately my board got overheated!!!! I have to change the mosfets!
