Knitting

1. Design

For this week I was in the knitting group as I am interested in textiles. After I first meet Alex suggested different options based on the time limitation and the machine's limitations. I decide that I wanted to do something with different colors so I chose to do a Jacquard knitting. This means that it has to be a flat knitted fabric similarly to how it could be done on a weaving loom by alternating the side on which colors appear. I designed a modular pattern in illustrator where the pixels corresponded to the fabric's dimensions.

Then we created a dat file type from the png pattern I designed by using a code that Alex provided. We imported it to the machine's software and started adjusting the yarn - instructions.

There were several options for the back side and I decided to have an inverted pattern instead of a solid color.
