Maya by Autodesk

Maya is one of my favorite tool for animating, simulation, rendering, VFX and modeling. It is a great tool to quickly model something quick, however it does not have physical units (cm, mm inches …). Exporting models from Maya to STL for digital production is possible but I would not recommend it. I will be using Solidworks for future projects that requires digital machining. As a student, you can download Maya for free. Screen Shot 2015-11-26 at 2.36.20 PM

Tele-touch

Tele-touch is a device that let’s the user touch each other by sending touch position data and received position data in realtime wirelessly. The upper part of the device consist of two servos with 2 degrees of freedom, allow it to move up, down, right and left.

I created the animation and model in Maya, however the form requires further refinement. It is probably easier and better to model in clay first before doing the modeling in Maya.

I created matching color parts in the model to represent which part will get trigger when touched.
