About Me
Hi, I'm Kathy! I'm a senior at MIT majoring in Course 6-3 (computer science) and 18 (mathematics). Although I don't have a lot of experience in making things, I'm excited to learn a lot and hopefully be able to make almost anything by the end of the semester.
My past work is largely unrelated to fabrication (think software engineering / AI research / quantitative finance), but I hope my coding skills will still come in handy later in the semester.
With that said, I've always enjoyed making things and doing hands-on activities. In high school, I built a small moving model of a ferris wheel and a (almost) life-size chess set. In my freshman year at MIT, I did the MechE FPOP, where I built a soccer-playing remote-controlled car from scratch. Most recently, I made an edge-grain wood cutting board at the MIT Hobby Shop. I enjoy going out of my comfort zone, and trying new things. I think this class is the perfect opportunity for me to really step out of that comfort zone and broaden my horizon in my last year at MIT.
Some of my hobbies include gardening, snowboarding, playing card/board games and poker, playing badminton, crocheting, folding origami, and learning languages (fun fact: I can speak 4 languages).
