Project 14: Wildcard Week

I'm getting in the holiday spirit, and I decided to make some shirts for my siblings and some other friends. To do so, I used adobe illustrator, the dye sublimation machine, and a liberal amount of quirkyness.

My Project

I started by brainstorming. I wanted each shirt to be a wierd reference to an inside joke for my siblings and friends. They might never wear these shirts in public, but I'm okay with that.

I wasn't very accustomed to illustrator, so it took me a little while to get used to all of the functionalities. I made all oƒ the designs first before putting them on any shirts.

I started by making Cody's. He's my sister's boyfriend and he's into powerlifting. We have a lot of inside jokes involving the power lifting injuries.

...

Then I made the designs for Josh, Paul and Luke, my brother and some close friends. These are some inside jokes from recent hunting trips we've been on.
...

Next I made a shirt for Rachel, my syster, who will never quit making fun of me for asking the pet-smart workers if I could see the lizards when I was younger
...

Finally, I made Kristin's. I kept with the same theme as Cody, as she's usually in on the joke too.
...

I then printed out my designs with the Dye Sub printer in the SEC. I then aligned them on polyester shirts that I purchased off Amazon and used the kafton tape to secure them. I used parchment paper between every layer of fabric to prevent bleeding.
...

I configured the heat press to 390 degrees farenheighht, 35 seconds, and a pressure rating of 5.
...

I pressed my designs into every shirt, and they came out great. I can't wait to give them out for Christmas.
